Drobeta Camp

Drobeta was the first stone city in Dacia (103-105) made by Emperor Trajan, a camp made for defense and an important military and political center, initially made to host 500 soldiers for guarding the bridge. Even today you can see the foundation (rebuild by Constantine the Great) on a surface of two hectares, with four lateral gates, housing, barracks, armories, streets and in the center is the building of the praetor (the commandant) where even the emperor Trajan stopped by in 105. On the vest of the Camp, on the Danube Bank you can see the ruins of the roman baths; in these region were found bricks containing the stamp of the 5th legion Madedonica, these proves how old the construction is.
